GENERAL CLASS INFORMATION: At the beginning of the year your student received a Syllabus. They will kept in their binder at all times for your reference. It also includes general class information and procedures. An extra copy can be downloaded here at the bottom of the page.
All students also filled out a Parent Contact Form. I use the information on this form to contact you. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] If you need an additional copy of the form it can be downloaded here at the bottom.
LEARNING STYLES/ STUDY IDEAS: We go over many ideas in class, but here are a few more recommendations:
ABSENCES: If you are absent, YOU are responsible for learning the material you missed and YOU are responsible for any work that needs to be turned in. First, check the “Absent Corner” to see if anything was collected/ turned in and what topic we covered while you were absent
Next, Ask Señora Lugo if you have any questions or concerns. Please note: Señora Lugo is not responsible for reminding you of the work/information you missed- it is YOUR responsibility.
GRADES:
For updates about a student's grades please refer to your parent portal. (For help with your parent portal, please contact the student services office Ms. Stone). My grades are updated at least weekly. Make sure to read the comments section to clarify any marks for late, incomplete or missing assignments.
HOMEWORK / LATE POLICY: In class we always discuss the homework assignment for that night and students are given the opportunity to write down the homework assignment. The homework assignments are always posted on my whiteboard in class. Homework that is not turned in at the beginning of the block is late. Late homework may be turned in up to 5 days late for half credit. 11 POINTS LESS FOR EVERY DAY. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY Make-up work or late work the week that the quarter / semester ends.
RESTROOM POLICY
All students will receive a yellow bathroom pass. This pass may be used to go to the restroom 5 times throughout the quarter. If the pass or lost or the student does not have the pass with them in class, the student will not be excused to use the restroom. An exception is made for any student that through Student Services was given a permanent pass for a medical reason. If a student develops a medical need for a permanent pass, please reach out to student services to issue a permanent pass.
RE-TESTS: Students may re-take any formal assignment other than the quarterly. There are several steps/ rules for retakes.
If tests are missed, the test should be made up within a week of the student’s absence. Student is responsible for scheduling a time to come before/after school starts to make up missed tests.
TUTORING/ ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT:
I offer tutoring/ academic enrichment by appointment- Please ask to Ms. Lugo in advance to make the arrangements for the tutoring. Please ASK I am here to help you.

LEARNING STYLES/ STUDY IDEAS: We go over many ideas in class, but here are a few more recommendations:
- This link has a learning styles Survey: Knowing your learning preferences and understanding how they affect your learning can be a very effective way of getting the best out of the courses you study. To help you do better in Spanish and to help me in planning groups throughout the year, I would like for you to take the time to fill out the following survey, then print two copies of your results. One copy will be turned in to me and the other will be in your folder.
Learning Styles Survey
If you do not answer every question, you will get a message telling you to fill out all required information. If you do not understand what a question is asking, please check with me for further explanation. - Quizlet allows students to make "virtual" flashcards. The reasons I love Quizlet are too many to count, but they include:
- Quizlet will pronounce the words in Spanish so that students can practice their pronunciation.
- The flashcards are saved on your account FOREVER, so as a 7th grader when you make the flashcards, you could review them a year later before the cumulative 8th grade test.
- Quizlet will create games and activities with you using the flashcards/ vocabulary words.
- It is a technology-saavy way for students to stay organized so they will not lose their study materials.
- You can share your list with another student and even email the link to the list (for example to me!) to show that you have completed the assignment
- You can also print out the flashcards and draw on them, or just to have a paper copy
